Ohio Corn Checkoff and Taiwan Feed Industry Association Sign Agreement to Expand Trade

September 22, 2025, Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio Corn Checkoff signed a Letter of Intent with the Taiwan Feed Industry Association during a ceremony at the Ohio Statehouse hosted by the Ohio Department of Agriculture on Monday, September 22, 2025.

Taiwan has long been a key partner for U.S. agricultural exports. The island nation of Taiwan imported nearly $3.7 billion worth of U.S. farm products in 2024, making it the eighth-largest market for American agricultural goods and the sixth-largest market for U.S. corn. This morning, they reaffirmed their dedication to creating stable, long-term demand for the high-quality corn produced with pride by Ohio and American farmers.

“This signing is a win for Ohio corn growers,” said Craig Downing, Secretary / Treasurer of the Ohio Corn Checkoff. “Taiwan is a trusted partner, and this agreement highlights the global demand for the high-quality corn we produce here in Ohio.”

The $2.12 billion agreement will deliver 7.5 million metric tons, equal to 295 million bushels of corn, and 1 million metric tons of DDGS (Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles) to Taiwan over the next three years. This commitment reflects the very mission of Ohio farmers’ checkoff investments: opening markets overseas while strengthening profitability here at home.

“Agreements like this show the power of long-term relationships,” said Wendy Osborn, Director of Market Development for Ohio Corn & Wheat. “When partners like Taiwan choose Ohio corn, they’re not just buying grain, they’re investing in our farmers, our communities, and a future of shared growth.”
