The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) from the first Trump administration is expiring in 2025. That means big impacts on Ohio’s grain operations for the next tax bill. The Ohio Corn & Wheat Growers Association (OCWGA) is actively working with elected officials and their offices to mitigate the impact of the expiration. Ideally, the TCJA would be extended — But we need to prepare for all possibilities.
With funding from Ohio Corn & Wheat, the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) did a study on the impact of the loss of these tax cuts on grain producers. The bottom line is that without the TCJA, Ohio producers can expect to see increased taxes from tens of thousands of dollars up to millions. These tax cuts are critical for positive cash flow, inter-generational land transfers, profitability, and re-investments.
There are 12 tax provisions that stand out for corn producers and are vital to protect. Read the Ohio-specific numbers and impacts here.
