The three big stories impacting members and corporate partners of Ohio Corn & Wheat kick off with news of a big soft red winter wheat purchase by Brazilian buyers following a U.S. Wheat Associates trade team visit to Ohio.
In July, the Ohio Small Grains Marketing Program welcomed a U.S. Wheat Associates trade team from Brazil for a two-day tour of Ohio’s wheat supply chain. The group met with farmers, grain handlers and researchers to learn more about Ohio-grown soft red winter wheat, from harvest and storage to milling and baking quality.
Following the visit to Ohio, Brazilian buyers purchased approximately 15,000 metric tons of U.S. soft red winter wheat—its first U.S. wheat purchase of the year- and could lead to additional purchases later this year.
