OCWGA Welcomes E15 Waiver, Tells Congress: Finish the Job

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Corn & Wheat Growers Association (OCWGA) thanks President Donald Trump and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin for granting a waiver that enables the sale of E15 throughout the summer months of June to September. This action recognizes the benefits E15 offers to consumers, especially during the busy summer travel season, by ensuring access to a reliable, lower-cost, American-produced fuel option amid rising fuel prices.

The waiver is an important step in ensuring that states like Ohio can continue to offer E15, commonly marketed as Unleaded 88, but it falls short of delivering the permanent, nationwide solution needed for year-round access. That certainty remains out of reach because Congress has failed to act on passing a nationwide, year-round expansion of E15.

OCWGA President Eric Tipton issued the following statement:

“We appreciate the Trump Administration and EPA stepping in to keep E15 available for drivers and recognizing the role this fuel plays in lowering costs and strengthening our domestic energy supply.

But farmers and drivers should not have to rely on temporary, year-to-year decisions to have access to a proven American fuel.

Unleaded 88 is the most tested fuel in history, and it has been proven to burn cleaner, support engine performance, and consistently offer a lower-cost option that saves Ohio drivers up to fifty cents per gallon right now; that adds up to real savings!

Congress needs to do its job and pass nationwide, year-round E15. Until that happens, we will continue to face unnecessary uncertainty, and consumers risk losing access to a fuel that saves them money when they need it most.”
