Ohio Corn & Wheat invests $15,000 in the future of our industry by supporting the next generation. Our scholarship program encourages students in trade schools, colleges, and universities to pursue certificates or degrees in one of the many academic fields that support the future of the corn and small grain industries including agriculture, business, communication, economics, education, policy, science and technology (example: Welding, Agricultural Equipment Technician, Commercial Drivers License Certificate: Class A) 

NEW THIS YEAR! One $2,000 Commercial Drivers License Certificate, Class A Scholarship 

  • With the U.S. truck driver shortage at an all-time high, the Ohio Corn & Wheat is excited to announce the release of a new scholarship program for members seeking to obtain or renew their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in Ohio.
  • The CDL Class Scholarship is available for Ohio Corn & Wheat members looking to renew or acquire a Class A CDL in Ohio. Applicants must currently be working in the agricultural field or pursuing a focus of study in agriculture.

The scholarship winners will be recognized at the Celebration of Ohio Corn and Wheat event that will take place February 23, 2023.

Eligibility

  1. Member of Ohio Corn & Wheat Growers Association. Can apply for membership at time of application submission.
  2. Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student at an Ohio college or university by the fall of 2023.
  3. Eligible programs/majors/certificates include agriculture, business, communication, economics, education, policy, science and technology (example: Welding, Agricultural Equipment Technician, Commercial Drivers License Certificate: Class A) or related fields.
  4. Applicants must also demonstrate the desire to pursue a career related to the corn and wheat industry and/or agriculture.
  5. Applicants must have proof of legal residency in the state of Ohio.
  6. Scholarship funds are to be used directly for tuition, fees, lab fees and books.
  7. Scholarship funds will be awarded to the student.
  8. Scholarship is not renewable.
  9. Scholarship will only be rewarded one time per person.

Selection Process

A committee of Ohio Corn & Wheat Board of Directors will select scholarship winners. Scholarship recipients will be notified by February 10, 2023. The scholarship is to be used for the 2023-2024 school year.
