Ohio Corn & Wheat is a leading trade association that advocates, promotes and enhances opportunities for Ohio grain farmers. We work diligently on behalf of Ohio’s corn and small grain farmers to provide a profitable and sustainable future. Ohio Corn & Wheat is a strategic alliance that houses two checkoffs and one membership-based organization.

This is a nine-month paid internship that is designed to provide real and practical work experience around Ohio Corn & Wheat’s educational, communications, and policy areas. Opportunities exist to gain experience in many different areas based upon the selected intern’s interests and skills.

This position will work directly with the Ohio Corn & Wheat Executive Assistant. Duties and responsibilities will vary day-to-day, but will likely include:

  • Attendance at board meetings;
  • Assisting in promotion, planning, execution, and attendance at major events like the Ohio Grain Farmer Symposium, Celebration of Ohio Corn & Wheat, Collegiate Policy Academy (travel to Washington DC), and Ohio FFA State Convention;
  • Coordinating and facilitating meetings;
  • Supporting staff with operational needs.

Requirements

You must be a current Ohio Corn & Wheat member who is currently enrolled in college as a second-year student or higher, preferably in an agriculture-related field.

  • High level of initiative and self-motivation
  • Willingness to learn and take direction
  • Strong computer skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

 

Additional Detail

This is a nine-month, $15 hour paid internship. The start date is early August through early May (Ohio FFA State Convention) based on scheduling needs and school schedule. Interns will receive a stipend before taxes and be expected to work 10-20 hours per week with flexibility according to class schedule. The selected intern must have their own transportation and be available to travel to the main office (59 Greif Parkway, Delaware, Ohio 43015) or to other venues around Ohio. Some travel, late nights and weekends are expected.
