Statement on Designation of Lake Erie Impairment

Ohio’s farmers have been strong partners in protecting Lake Erie. The checkoff programs of Ohio’s corn, soybean and wheat farmers have made significant investments in science-based research to help farmers reduce phosphorous loss. We have aggressively promoted the use of best management practices among all our growers and will continue to support all efforts that protect water quality while enabling us to maintain food production.

OCWGA and Ohio Soybean Farmers Statement on GLRI

The Ohio Corn & Wheat Growers Association (OCWGA) and the Ohio Soybean Association (OSA) today urged Congress to again reject the steep reductions to the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative proposed in the Trump Administration’s budget. The president has proposed a 90 percent cut, which would reduce funding from $300 million to $30 million.

Goyings elected to USW Executive Board

Doug Goyings of Paulding, Ohio was elected to serve on the U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) executive board during the joint winter USW and National Association of Wheat Growers board meeting in Washington, D.C.

Goyings is a 4th generation grain farmer with more than thirty-five years of experience working on behalf of wheat and agriculture.

Six Successful Farm Bill Listening Sessions
January 23, 2017

Ohio Corn & Wheat held six listening sessions in January across the state. At the sessions, we encouraged farmers to reflect on and share their first-hand experiences with Farm Bill programs, as well as what sectors of the current Farm Bill are most important to them versus what they would like to see changed. Over one hundred OCW members attended the listening sessions and provided us with their direct feedback.

Bower to lead OCWGA

The Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers Association (OCWGA) Board of Directors elected officers for 2017. Fifth generation Fayette County farmer Jed Bower was elected as OCWGA president.
