Infrastructure Policy

We value the infrastructure assets that provide a pathway for our goods to make it to market.

The development of, and maintenance of, state and national infrastructure assets such as roads, bridges, rail, intermodal and the inland waterways system is essential for the growth of agricultural commerce both domestically and abroad.

Our Association Objectives:

  • Secure energy and water appropriations of the full amounts supported by the diesel fuel tax receipts deposited into the Inland Waterways Trust Fund (IWTF).
  • Conform the cost-sharing for IWTF- financed construction projects to require 25% of the project cost to be derived from the IWTF and the remaining 75% from general revenues. This is the same formula used for Deep Draft navigation projects.
  • Increase overall Corps of Engineers’ Civil Works Program Operation and Maintenance funding.
