Ohio Grain Association Advances
Hires, promotes staff members
DELAWARE, Ohio — Ohio Corn & Wheat Growers Association (OCWGA) is developing its industry presence with the promotion of former director of research and community affairs, Jack Irvin, to director of government and industry affairs and introduces Brad Moffitt as its new director of market development and membership.
Moffitt has career experience as an educational instructor and a lifelong agriculturist. He was raised on and later managed a crop and livestock farm in Champaign County.
Prior to OCWGA, he served state school systems as a high-school principal, superintendent, Ohio Department of Education consultant and area supervisor for the Ohio Agricultural Education Services. He was an agricultural education instructor for 14 years at Ridgedale High School in Marion County and Ripley High School in Brown County.
He is a two-time National/Regional Agri-Science Teacher of the Year recipient and an Ohio Agricultural Education Teacher of the Year.
Moffitt is now responsible for managing the projects funded by the Ohio Corn Checkoff and Ohio Small Grains Checkoff programs. He will work to increase industry demand and value with research, market development, education and increased exports of grain to maximize the checkoff investments made by all corn and small grain farmers. He will also work with the corn and wheat farmer members of OCWGA to enhance the effectiveness and value of their trade association.
Moffitt has a Bachelor of Science of Agriculture with majors in agricultural education and animal science from The Ohio State University and a Master’s of Administration in educational leadership from The University of Dayton.
He resides near Radnor, Ohio.
Irvin continues his work with OCWGA but assumes new responsibilities relating to the development of public policy and legislative priorities related to agriculture at both the state and federal level.
Additionally, he will continue to help develop a network of grassroots volunteer corn and wheat farmers throughout Ohio, direct the communication efforts for the organization, and work with the National Corn Growers Association and the National Association of Wheat Growers, as well as many other national affiliate organizations, to advance and develop markets and opportunities for Ohio’s corn and wheat producers.
Irvin resides in Clintonville, Ohio.
